Some times there must be a holding time between receiving a "Word" from God and giving it out

Amos 3:7 "Surely the Lord God does nothing. Unless He reveals His secret counsel to His servants the prophets."

Whenever God initially speaks it should be treated as a secret. One of the biggest mistakes that beginners make in the prophetic is that they share everything that they get immediatly. You need permission to share the secret counsel of God.

It was said of Samuel “Thus Samuel grew and the Lord was with him and let none of his words fail.” 1 Sam 3:19

The Hebrew for ‘fail’ is ‘Naphal-erets’ which literally means ‘fall to the earth.’ ‘Naphal’ (5307) = fall, ‘Erets’ (776)= earth. ‘Naphal’ is also translated ‘give birth’ and ‘Nephel’ (5309) a derivative of the word means ‘miscarriage’ or ‘abortion’.

This conjures up the picture of Samuel the prophet being pregnant with word of God and only delivering it when it is ready for safe birth. Therefore none of his words miscarried.

This is illustrated in Samuel’s life in 1 Sam 9:15-19 “Now a day before Saul’s coming, the Lord had revealed this to Samuel saying, ‘About this time tomorrow I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him to be prince over My people Israel; and he will deliver My people from the hand of the Philistines’…..When Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said to him. ‘Behold, the man of whom I spoke to you! This one shall rule over My people.’ Then Saul approached Samuel in the gate and said, ‘Please tell me where the seer's house is.’ Samuel answered Saul and said, ‘I am the seer. Go up before me to the high place, for you shall eat with me today; and in the morning I will let you go, and will tell you all that is on your mind.’”

Samuel did not blurt the word out when he first meets with Saul; he waited for God’s timing and then gave it. We should do the same. If God gives you a word for someone, ask him to let you know when you are to give it. Pray over the word; ask God how it applies to the situation in hand, and like a baby it will develop within you. A premature baby will require an incubator and special care if it is to surve an early delivery. When you receive a word ask for and wait for God’s Holy Spirit to prompt you as to when the time is right for delivery and your words will not ‘fall to earth.’

We will only see a part of the whole

1 Cor 13:9 “For we know in part and prophesy in part.”

A backlight group of pampas grass silhouetted against water seen through pine branches.

The above picture could be beside a river in the countryside with a country cottage next to it, or it could be beside a lake next to a stately mansion. Because we only see part of the picture we cannot be sure. The next picture, which is taken on the same day, minuets later, from a different perspective, adds more colour and information. The same is true when two or more prophesy together about something. The more parts we get the more complete the picture will be.

The same group of pampas grass this time photographed from a different angle with a stalely lake in the background.
