God communicates through our sensory organs

Part of my job, in the medical field, has involved communicating with special needs children. When faced with a deaf child with learning difficulties, you soon realise that there is more to communication than speech, and such children will quickly pick up on the heart attitude behind your actions!

Just as we have natural senses to perceive the world around us, we also have their spiritual counterparts whose function is to perceive the spiritual realm around us.
God can communicate through all of our senses both natural and supernatural. These are: sight, smell (Ezk 16:19), taste (Psalm 34:8; 119:103; SS 2:3; Heb 6:4+5; 1Pet 2:3), hearing, and feeling (Mk 2:8). In the following studies we shall mainly look at the importance of our heart attitude and the use of the eyes and ears.

Receive until it is finished

When God starts to communicate it is best to remain in receiving mode until it finishes. If you start to try to think it through, you can change over from eating of the fruit of the tree of life to the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and will therefore interrupt and sometimes stop the flow of revelation altogether. When you have finally received all God has then ask Him to interpret it, meditate about it and then reason it through.
